Race: September 20th, 2008

Sprint Distance: 8 Mile Bike, 4 Mile Run, 2.5 Mile Canoe

The Inaugural 7 Hills 3 Rivers Adventure Race will be a run, bike, paddle event suitable for novice and experienced racers. During the race, participants will ascend each of Rome’s famous seven hills and paddle the city’s three rivers.  Total distance covered will be approximately four miles on foot, eight miles on bike and two and half miles in canoe. There will be 100 teams competing in the race. Teams of 3 are eligible for prizes, however solos and teams of 2 are welcome to race!

Mystery events and team challenges will add spice to the event. These special tests will typically be team building exercises such as wall climbs, puzzles, and balance tests. The emphasis will be on teamwork rather than superior strength or athleticism.

Checkpoints will be located at each of the seven hills and at other locations along the course. To complete the race without penalty points, all checkpoints must be gathered. The checkpoints will include Rome history trivia. Teams will be asked to deliver the correct answers at the finish line. Teams turning in correct answers can shave time off their final time, allowing slower teams to leapfrog over faster teams without the correct answers.
